2022 Tour de Nicolet with Shane Hitz
Shane Hitz is a guest blog contributor born and raised in Central Wisconsin. Shane’s has a deep passion for riding and designing routes. In 2019, Shane Hitz race directed the inaugural IRONBULL Red Granite Grinder. In 2020, he put in over 1,600 miles scouting for the race to dial in the courses. Recently, Shane started a blog where he writes about and shares his gravel and bikepacking routes for others to enjoy. Shane created and led the Tour de Nicolet for five years. In 2021, he was featured on the cover of the Wisconsin Bike Fed annual ride guide. Follow Shane on this year’s Tour de Nicolet!
Shane shares his adventures with other bikepackers in the 2022 Tour de Nicolet. The group encountered bear, swimming holes, and plenty of secluded camping opportunities as they past places such as Augustyn Springs, Crotch Vegas, Kent fire tower, Butler Rock, Chipmunk Rapids, and the MacArthur Pine log (measuring 17.5 feet in circumference!). They rolled on logging roads, ATV trails, and spiced it up with a couple stints of singletrack.
