New Mexico’s Monumental Loop with Shane Hitz
Shane Hitz is a guest blog contributor born and raised in Central Wisconsin. Shane’s has a deep passion for riding and designing routes. In 2019, Shane Hitz race directed the inaugural IRONBULL Red Granite Grinder. In 2020, he put in over 1,600 miles scouting for the race to dial in the courses. Recently, Shane started a blog where he writes about and shares his gravel and bikepacking routes for others to enjoy.
Shane shares his adventures alongside 150 bikepackers on the legendary 245 mile Monumental Loop as part of the New Mexico Bikepacking Summit. They rolled through desert, dry river beds, and pecan groves ditch riding, stopping at food trucks, weaving through ocotillos, and pitching a tent each night along the way.
